APRESENTAÇÃO

The first issue of the journal Asklepion: Health Information was published in January 2021, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim of facilitating communication between producers and users of information on science, technology and innovation in health. The journal was created with the target audience of researchers, professors and students in the area of information on science, technology and innovation in health, as well as professionals, technicians and users in these areas.

Four years after its launch and with society already in a new historical and post-pandemic moment, the journal Asklepion will start publishing its first issue in 2025, initiating a process of strategic transformations focused mainly on the academic dimension, sustainability and scientific longevity of the journal. Firstly, its Editorial Board now has new specialists, including researchers Antonio Carlos Duarte de Carvalho (Information, History and Health), Antonio Luiz Rodrigues Júnior (Epidemiology and Health Law), Domingos Alves (Biomedical Informatics), Gleici da Silva Castro Perdoná (Statistics and Biomedical Informatics), Marco Aurelio Guimarães (Ethics, Biomedical Informatics and Pathology) from the Ribeirão Preto School of Medicine at the University of São Paulo, researcher Ronildo Alves dos Santos (Philosophy and Nursing) from the Ribeirão Preto School of Nursing at the University of São Paulo (USP), researcher Sergio Guinez Molinos (Medicine and Telemedicine) from the Universidad de Talca in Chile and researcher Pamela McKinney (Health Literacy) from the University of Sheffield, England. Asklepion also begins 2025 with three editors: researchers Clóvis Ricardo Montenegro de Lima and Jorge Calmon Biolchini, from the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology, Rio de Janeiro, and Professor Dr. Maria Cristiane Barbosa Galvão, from the Ribeirão Preto School of Medicine at USP. The three are involved in various research scenarios related to Health Information in Brazil and other countries. However, Professor Cristiane's association as editor brings greater balance in gender diversity to the journal, in addition to contemplating the institutional perspective coming from the Ribeirão Preto School of Medicine at the University of São Paulo, where she works. It is worth noting that the Professor is part of the research groups registered with CNPq “Information in Science, Technology and Innovation in Health” at IBICT; “Studies in Knowledge Representation and Information and Communication Technologies” (UFSCAR) and is the leader of the research group “Technology and Information in Health” (UNICAMP). The scope of the Asklepion journal, since its inception, has focused on studies and theories of information in the health area; organization of knowledge and management of health information; information and communication technologies in health; telemedicine and teleconsultation; information in health organizations; automation of clinical processes and procedures; information and innovation in health; artificial intelligence; mobile applications in health; information, health and society; and health information policies.

In addition, it is envisaged that the journal may receive interdisciplinary contributions of research on Health Information from fields of thematic intersection, such as Biomedical Informatics, Management of Health Organizations, Family Medicine, Nutrition, Health Prevention, Epidemiological Surveillance, Occupational Therapy, Health Education, Nursing, Health Law, Health Communication, Psychology, Clinical Librarianship, among others. This vision consolidates the intersectoral dimension of Health Information, as well as promotes dialogue between researchers and professionals from different areas, favoring the construction of collaborative solutions that positively impact information processes in Health.

These initial changes reflect the direction of Asklepion Journal towards its new phase, with greater participation and collaboration from Brazilian and international institutions, where diversity of thought, action and scientific involvement is necessary and required. In its editing process, the journal will continue to be published continuously, with submissions always open. After the article is evaluated and accepted, it is reviewed, edited and published. To this end, the journal continues with its dedicated team of Assistant Editors who, over the last few years, have made its existence and consolidation possible.

Currently, the journal is indexed in BRAPCI, Diadorim, DOAJ, Google Scholar, Latindex and Migulim. Starting in 2025, the proposed transformations aim to ensure the indexing of this journal in renowned national and international databases. The exceptional quality of submitted and published manuscripts is undoubtedly a determining factor for the continuous improvement of the journal's impact and relevance.

In this context, we invite researchers to submit their work for analysis, in addition to following the continuous publication of articles, aware that they will find not only unpublished contributions, but also original studies that foster and provoke critical thinking, addressing scenarios, conflicts, concepts and practices essential for the advancement of research on Health Information.
