This work intends to address the teaching of epidemiology, aiming to the evolution of didactic content, in undergraduate of health care professions disciplines, to develop action based competence, and to incorporate technology as a mediation tool for the cognition aquisition process and expansive learning. The historical epistemology of epidemiology was taken aiming postmodern epidemiology projection; Vygostsky's theory of learning provided the basis for pedagogical plan; the activity theory alowed a structure for the formative interventions in the programmatic activities; an epidemiology teaching and learning plan was put into practice, in one discipline of medical curriculum, from 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, by distance learning entirely with synchronous and asynchronous sessions, which lasted until 2024, when the curriculum was reformulated; it was possible to verify the students performance, the adaptation of activities to Vygostsky's learning process, the performance of the teaching and learning activities in technological environment, the production of information by students by learning with research, in addition to complying with the traditional content of the discipline. The experience showed that technology enhances teaching and learning, in disciplines such as those that develop knowledge in epidemiology.
